There is no better time than today to tell a story

I am incredibly fortunate to be able to realize my dream, decades in the making, of working on building a second career as a photographer. Having lived and worked at times in locations across the US, Switzerland, England, Scotland and the PRC, it’s my good and present fortune to live in Southern Arizona. Lying in the heart of the Sonoran Desert, this is a fantastically beautiful, but I believe, grossly under appreciated corner of the world.

The desert offers endless opportunities for making stunning photographs from grand vistas to tiny, vibrant and colorful micro landscapes, in what is often dismissed as simply an uninviting and hostile environment. My goal is, primarily, to raise awareness of what the American Southwest offers through exploring a variety of landscape and urban photography subjects. Additionally, and more importantly, however,I think starting with a narrow focus can lead organically to visiting and speaking to broader, more encompassing issues.

Beyond the countless individual images waiting to be captured, this region also has a long tradition of inspiring stories. I hope to make photographs that do a measure of justice to the beauty of this region, but also run with that inspiration to weave together images with stories that will resonate in points far beyond this desert.

I hope you enjoy my photography and blog writings and invite you to respond with your thoughts and comments.
